ABOUT ME

My name is Jason Belcik, and I am a freelance graphic designer and illustrator. As a graphic designer, I have always put context at the forefront of my creative process, as I feel it garners the best results, and adequately fulfills all aspects of a project. Context has always served as a useful guide for my creative endeavors, and has helped me visualize a solution to a problem—whether it’s working with clients or independently working on a personal project—understanding the situation has always helped me, as well as the people I’ve worked with achieve the best results.

Born in Saigon, Vietnam to a Czech-American father and Vietnamese mother, and of dual nationality—American and Czech—I gained a multicultural perspective in the early years of my life. Growing up in Denver, Colorado, my father and I would often go on trips overseas. Abroad, I drew inspiration from the local surroundings unique to the places I visited, as well as the history behind them. Because of this, I have always tried to contextualize my work when attempting to apply myself. Building upon one’s own level of foreknowledge on any given creative problem—whether historical or theoretical—is something that I value.
